About this site

Charity Wizard is an informational directory of US charitable organizations, combining:

• The current IRS Publication 78 data (updated monthly) — the official list of organizations eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. Each entry has an EIN, name, city, state, and current deductibility classification (PC, PF, SO, etc.).
• A historical archive from 2013 — preserves entries for organizations that appeared in an earlier snapshot but are no longer in the current IRS list (dissolved, merged, or reclassified).

Entries marked with an EIN link to live data on ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer — where Form 990 filings, revenue, expenses, and officer compensation are available for organizations that file annually.

Deductibility codes

• PC — Public charity (most common 501(c)(3))
• PF — Private foundation
• POF — Private operating foundation
• SO — Supporting organization (509(a)(3))
• LODGE — Fraternal lodge system
• GROUP — Group ruling
• 1, 2, 3, 4 — Legacy classifications from 2013 archive

Structure

• Home — list of all states with org counts
• /STATE/ — cities in a state (e.g. California)
• /STATE/CITY/ — charities in a city (e.g. Los Angeles)
